EDR celebrates 7th anniversary

The last 12 months have flown by, principally because we’ve been busy behind the scenes and in front of a progressively growing client base, who’ve appreciated the value we can bring to their projects.

Our core management and operations team, whilst only 6 in size, have over delivered with their time, energy and commitment in support of our consultants and clients alike. As we continue to challenge our raison d’être, I’m so pleased we’ve stuck to our principles and simply grafted away this last year.

Interestingly, in this tough market, we’ve seen some clients attempt to use their muscles to try to improve terms such that there is simply no partnership left with their contractors. Recently we were asked for a £350k performance bond prior to supplying advisory QC services, which could be called on at any time, for any reason and without further authorisation… This is not a collegiate environment we want work in and we politely declined. Our goal is still very much to work in partnership with clients.

This last year hasn’t been about hiring more staff in big news splashes (and then allowing people to make a quick and quiet exit in the background) but investing in our core team and ensuring they feel empowered to innovate, while continually building on their confidence and trust in one another. This is very true in settling Gill, our Principal Operations Geophysicist, into her new role, along with the gradual roll out of our Remote Integrity Reporting ™ toolkit, which is seeing positive results.

Nick’s environmental division continues to flourish and we’ve put in the hard yards to create a sustainable and scalable business. We’ve been busy guiding and supporting the licencing for one of our major clients on their journey towards realising a large Carbon, Capture, and Storage project in the UK. On top of this we’ve made clear, achievable environmental objectives for the business.

It's not all roses though – We did encounter a set-back on one assignment this year, primarily due to reasons outside of our control, but we attacked this head on – with honesty, clarity and humility – resulting, I’m delighted to say, with an encouraging outcome, 1st rate feedback, and a client who’s offered us more work again.

From the 28 projects this last year, we’ve worked in 16 countries for 11 clients providing a range of services from survey design, project management, training, permitting, environmental, geotechnical, HSE and seismic 3D, 4D and OBN QC services.

There is something so poetic about the words “small is beautiful” and thankfully we’ve kept to our core values and whilst this may not secure immediate rewards, it’s certainly paid off thus far and we’re delighted to be reaching another milestone on our 7th birthday.

Please get in touch if you want to be part of the EDR family or need support with your work programs.

Happy birthday EDR!
