Jenny Goddard passes on

Board Advisor to EDR and joint founder of the EPI Group passes

It is with great sadness we wish to inform you that Jenny passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on 29th June, after a prolonged battle with a difficult illness. In keeping with her character she wished this to be kept private. She is succeeded by her husband, Brian, daughter Samantha and two devoted grandchildren.

Jenny, alongside Brian, started the EPI Group in 1986 which they collectively ran for 27 years as a highly successful partnership, developing the business into the 2nd largest seismic QC consultancy.

Jenny was a formidable lady, in an industry which at the time was heavily male dominated and helped shape some of the countless relations and accomplishment the business enjoyed over two and a half decades. Her sharp business acumen, clever wit and wise words kept many a storm at bay.

The pinnacle of her tenure was being awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2013 in recognition of the business’ outstanding achievement in international trade, where, accompanied by Deon Smook, she received this award at Buckingham Palace from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Having successfully crystalised their hard work in 2014 through the sale of the EPI Group to Palatine Private Equity, and after a short spell in retirement, she was fundamental in supporting the formation, development and success the new family business, EDR, has earned in an incredibly challenging market.

Edward commented: ‘Jenny has been amazing inspiration over the last 18 years and has always provided gentle guidance, heartfelt encouragement and wise judgement in all our business dealings. There is no doubt she has left an enormous void in our lives both personally and professionally, but we must be grateful she has touched our lives so emphatically. Her legacy will be life-long and will continue to be a constant motivation.’

She will be greatly missed by our business, her family and those industry colleagues who had the privilege knowing her.
